When progressing through each level, you’ll find Nullscape Altars. Before you activate them, it’s best to know how they affect your Nullscape run. I’ve also got a Nullscape Classes Tier List, which includes all abilities.
Nullscape Altars
During a level, an Altar can only be used once, and they grant various effects depending on which Altar appears. If the level number is high enough, multiple Altars can spawn, with a maximum of 5. The More Altars Upgrade, however, guarantees an additional Altar, increasing the maximum to 6, and costs 600 Gold Gifts.
All Altars
Every Altar you can find, and what they do.
Altar of Chance
- Grants a buff or a debuff at random for the rest of the level
Altar of Chaos
- After you activate the Altar of Chaos and complete the level, a Chaos Choice becomes available
- Chaos Choice possibilities:
- Curses
- Greater Curses
- Divine Curses
- Enemies
Altar of Echo
- Activates the last Altar you used, but it is slightly different in the sense that it is not affected by activated Altars and Gifts
Altar of Passage
- Summons pink tiles in random locations, which enrage Guardians and Voidbound Guardians. The tiles disappear after a while
- The pink tiles can sometimes grant Gold Gifts
- If the Altar of Passage appears after you activate the Altar of Echo, it will not enrage Guardians and instead only grants Gold Gifts
Altar of Protection
- Summons a bubble which grants nearby players a shield
- Costs 50 Gold Gifts at base to activate if you’re in a group and increases depending on the level and number of players, but costs 12 Gold Gifts if you are playing solo
Altar of Purgatory
- Adds entities from the current pool, but they are only temporary
- Depending on how many Gifts have been collected, the effect changes
- 0% to 50% Gifts will grant Greed
- Greed increases the yield of Golden Gifts by 2x for the level
- 50% to 90% Gifts will grant Revive
- Revives all defeated players
- This Altar will not appear for at least 4 levels after reviving players
- The Altar of Purgatory cannot be used if 90% of Gifts have been collected
Altar of Purification
- Trades a Curse (not a Greater Curse) for an enemy, which costs Golden Gifts, the price of which depends on which Curse you’re trading
- This Altar will not appear for at least 6 levels afterwards
When Do Altars Spawn?
Altars begin to spawn as soon as you reach level 3.
- Level 3 to level 7
- Level 8 to level 11
- Level 12 to level 15
- Level 16 to level 19
- Level 20+
Upgrades
There are two upgrades you can use regarding Altars.
More Altars
This upgrade guarantees one extra Altar when used. You cannot use this upgrade until at least level 10 onwards. Not all Altars can appear with More Altars, and the ones that do have a chance are the Altar of Echo and the Altar of Chance.
To obtain the More Altars upgrade, you can purchase it with 600 Gold Gifts.
Altars Radar Module
The Altars Module affects the Radar upgrade. You can purchase Radars with a base cost of 175 Gold Gifts, whilst the Altars Module has a base cost of 300 Gold Gifts. You cannot use Radars below level 5, and the Altars Module is available to use from level 8.
This Module highlights the locations of any Altars that haven’t been activated yet every 12 seconds.
