Doctor Galen is the ship’s surgeon in Windrose. He is the first NPC that you will encounter in your journey, telling you to find a proper ship and recruits. This is when you pursue the “I Need a Bigger Boat” quest, allowing you to find a ship, gather resources for it, and then find recruits for it. Throughout this process, you will be visiting nearby islands in the Coastal Jungle biome in search of recruits. Moreover, you will have to go back and forth for Doctor Galen to ask for his advice and further progression. However, there is a chance that Doctor Galen might disappear for you, leaving you confused about how to find him. In this guide, we will tell you how to find Doctor Galen in Windrose.
Doctor Galen will arrive at your very first base in the game, most probably on the first island of the Coastal Jungle biome. He will roam around the base forever, unless you take down the bonfire to remove the first base. Removing the base where Doctor Galen originally arrived is what caused Doctor Galen to disappear. This is what confuses most of the players, as they cannot find Doctor Galen at any base. However, the solution to finding Doctor Galen is very simple. All you have to do is “Settle” Doctor Galen at one of your bases to spawn him again.
To do so, follow the following steps.
As you close the Bonfire menu, Doctor Galen will appear right in front of you. You can manage other NPCs as well with this method. For instance, in the second biome, you will have to talk to John Doe. If John Doe disappears for some reason, you can spawn him at your base by following the same set of steps.
Additionally, you can also remove NPCs from the base. To do so, interact with the Bonfire, select the NPC under the “Guests” tab, and then press the Spacebar key to Evict them. After that, you can settle the NPCs at other bases.
