There’s a new fantasy roguelike RPG in town, and it goes by the name of Arcath Tales. It’s available worldwide on both Google Play and PC, the latter via R2 Games and Game Hollywood Games.
It combines complex RPG progression along with some engaging gacha-driven character collection, and there’s even a hefty dollop of strategy thrown in.
The game has already gained plaudits during its pre-registration phase, being featured on the Google Play Store within the “Pre-registration Games” section.
It has been developed to follow the slogan “Where cards, roguelike adventure, and myth units.” Sounds good? Then read on.
What’s the story?
You’re tasked with exploring a mysterious fantasy land set beneath the World Tree, which spans nine great realms.
There’s a looming threat to this world though, a mist that’s spreading quickly and turning living beings into terrifying monsters.
It’s your job – as a human explorer chosen by the Pioneers’ Alliance – to put together a band of forest spirits to confront this threat and save all nine realms.
How does it play?
It sees you explore the mist covered continents via an expansive map, which boasts branching routes and various unpredictable enemy encounters.
You have to master these battles via a set of fully customizable forest spirit skills. You can choose from hundreds of abilities, and tailor each spirit to its own combat role. Making sure you have the best combinations is key to success.
In terms of the combat itself, the Forest spirits are divided into elements and battlefield roles. So attackers, defenders, and supporters.
You’re not locked into one path in terms of how you progress too, meaning there’s a dizzying amount of ways you can play through the adventure.
