Three-time major winner Jordan Spieth came into this week’s Sony Open hoping to start the new PGA Tour season on the right root. If all went well, it could be the first step to his return to greatness.
And through three rounds in Hawaii, it’s going very well for the 32-year-old veteran.
Spieth fought off two bogeys with four birdies in Saturday’s third round to shoot his third-straight 68 to open the season. The strong start has Spieth T13 at six under with 18 holes to play.
lf Spieth is going to capture his first 14th career PGA Tour victory and first since 2022 on Sunday, he’ll need to get past the solo leader, Davis Riley. Riley fired a 67 in Round 3 to reach 12 under and take a two-shot lead heading into the final round.
