Chicken is one of the peaceful animals in Hytale that players can tame and raise at their base for eggs. It is usually not hostile to players or NPCs, but the chicken does attack when it is near someone it does not trust. For players to grow trust with a chicken, they will have to provide it with a home and protection. In return, players will be able to get eggs without any aggression. In this guide, we will tell you where to find chickens in Hytale.
Chickens only spawn in the Emerald Grove, the first zone of the game. It is the starting biome in the game where most players will build their initial base. Finding the chickens will require the players to search the plains and near the forest. The chicken may spawn at a great distance, depending on the biome layout.
Most of the time, there will be at least two chickens roaming in the zone. If you are lucky, you might find a chick as well. However, you cannot simply pick them up and bring them to base empty-handed.
After figuring out where to find chickens, you must bring a Capture Crate. It is a tool that you can craft at the Farmer’s Workbench. Crafting a Capture Crate will require 4x Any Wood and 50x Essence of Life. It is best to craft at least two Capture Crates so that you can bring two chickens back home.
Once you have the Capture Crates, go out into the plains and look for chickens. Upon finding them, equip the Capture Crate and press RMB to capture a chicken while near it. The Chicken will stay in the crate. You can return to the home and make a fenced area for the chickens to roam close to your base. To release the chicken, equip the crate and press the LMB.
Now that you have chickens, the next step is to give them a home and protection. To do so, make a Chicken Coop at the Farmer’s Workbench. It will cost 20x Any Wood, 50x Essence of Life, and 10x Plant Fiber. However, the Chicken Coop is not available until Farmer’s Workbench Tier 5.
After crafting the Chicken Coop, place it near the chickens. The chickens will go inside the coop at night and roam the area in the morning. Moreover, the eggs will spawn at the entrance of the coop. You can pick up eggs from the coop without the fear of chickens attacking you.
