The latest update of Arc Raiders brings a lot of new content, changes, and challenges for raiders to experience. One of the new challenges is the new Frostbite mechanic that poses a serious threat to the raider. This new mechanic is a part of the new Cold Snap map condition. Joining the raid on a map with the Cold Snap condition puts the raider into snowy weather, where staying out for too long can cause Frostbite, which eventually can lead to the raider’s death. It is essential to learn how Frostbite works and how to deal with it to survive the raids. In this guide, we will tell you how to deal with Frostbite in Arc Raiders.
Frostbite is a brand-new game mechanic in Arc Raiders, exclusive to the Cold Snap map condition. The Cold Snap map condition is active on one map at a time. This condition implements snowy weather on the map, featuring heavy snow and blizzards. Staying outside in the cold weather for a couple of minutes (1 minute and 35 seconds to be exact) induces Frostbite on the raider. It makes the raider gasp in discomfort and makes them shiver. Moreover, the snow will build up on the character model, and the raider will start taking health damage (One HP per tick every second).

The Shield does not take damage, but the character’s Health does. So, if the health is completely depleted, the raider knocks down.
There are a couple of methods to deal with Frostbite in Arc Raiders. The first method is to use the bandages, Vita Shots, or Vita Spray to keep healing while traversing the chaotic snowy weather. It is an expensive method, but it is the only way to traverse greater distances without stopping along the way. It is best to bring more healing items to the Cold Snap raid, because you might have to cover great distances at any point of the raid to extract safely.
The second method is to head indoors to take shelter. As soon as you step inside a building or structure with a roof, the Frostbite effect will be removed. Your character will no longer take damage, and the snow buildup will gradually decrease. While taking shelter, you can fully patch up your raider. After that, when you head out again, you will have 1 minute and 35 seconds before your character starts taking damage from Frostbite.

Overall, the second method is safer and increases the overall chance of survival. However, it does slow down your overall plan for the raid. If you want to be quick on your feet to loot the locations before everyone else, you must bring a sufficient amount of healing to make the trip.
Last but not least, a crucial tip that can help you with saving healing items is to use the Combat MK.2 Augment. It is a rare augment with a passive ability of restoring 1 HP every 5 seconds. As you take shelter after the cold traversal, your health will begin to replenish.
