Featuring a new Social Hub and the greatness that is hamsterball racing, the world of Pixile Studios’ Super Animal Royale has gotten that much bigger with the recent release of its Super Animal World DLC.
See whether one’s Super Friends should assemble with our preview…
While new to Super Animal Royale proper, we decided to base the majority of our time between the gory action of Super Animal Royale with the moments of zen that Super Animal World brings to the table – we’ll save shenanigans like “The Bwoking Dead” for another day.
When it comes to Super Animal World’s vibe, think less Happy Tree Friends, more Smiling Friends – can’t be too squeaky clean and saccharine, after all.
That being said, Super Animal Royale veterans that clocked hours being all slashy-slashy amidst their battle royale peers can just as easily jump into Super Animal World’s (semi)idyllic paradise.
On that note, Super Animal World prides itself on its island reprieve from the madness, allowing players to enjoy a relaxing – cozy! – space in the form of its Social Hub.
While there, players can take part in Super Animal World happenings like hamsterball racing, bug catching, and fishing – the latter a true hallmark of the cozy genre.
Each of these Super Animal World modes is surprisingly robust, but we just have to give the nod to its hamsterball races. With multiple tracks and dash pads-a-plenty, this was easily our new addiction.
Of course, being a Social Hub, players will need to be social – and Super Animal World gives players plenty of NPCs to talk to. Major shoutout to their sheer wit – combining animals and dad jokes leads to a formula we could absolutely get behind.
For those looking for a quest, they’re all too happy to deliver and will net players oh-so-valuable XP alongside Carl Coins.
During this hectic holiday season, Super Animal World and its Social Hub provided a welcome reprieve – and plenty of hamsterball – amidst the madness.
Pixile Studios‘ Super Animal Royale: Super Animal World DLC is now available – for free! – for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
