The Forge Pickaxe Progression – Best Pickaxe for Early, Mid, and Late Gameplay

Having a good pickaxe in The Forge is crucial, especially if you plan to grind in the mines and obtain ore. It’s important you know what the best The Forge Pickaxe Progression method is, and the pickaxe you use makes all the difference! You can also find out which pickaxe is overall the best with our The Forge Pickaxe Tier List.

The Forge Pickaxe Progression

It’s common to separate gameplay into early, mid, and late stages. Therefore, I’ve also used that formula and explained which pickaxe to use depending on where you are in gameplay.

Early Stages

The first pickaxe you get is the Stone Pickaxe, which doesn’t offer much. Make sure you purchase the Bronze Pickaxe as soon as possible from Miner Fred’s Pickaxe Shop for $150. Although still not the best, it has 7 Mine Power, which is a nice increase from the 4 Mine Power the Stone Pickaxe gives you.

From this point, you can either decide to save up and use it until you have enough for a mid-game pickaxe. Or, if you’re desperate for better, you can purchase the Iron Pickaxe from Miner Fred’s Pickaxe Shop for $500. This has a 10 for Mine Piwer and +5% luck boost.

Mid Stages

As you progress and earn more money, you can get a better pickaxe. I suggest the Golden Pickaxe for $1500 from Miner Fred’s Pickaxe Shop. This has 16 Mine Power, +15% Luck, and one Rune slot.

I’ll stick with the pattern of giving two recommendations for each stage. So, my second option is the Platinum Pickaxe. Many people consider the Stonewake’s Pickaxe, but this isn’t worth it due to the decrease in mining speed.

Instead, the Platinum Pickaxe has a huge 24 Mining Power, +25% Luck, and 2 Rune Slots. It costs $4400 from Miner Fred’s Pickaxe Shop.

Late Stages

Now, onto the late stage. There is only one pickaxe suited for this, which is the Arcane Pickaxe. It costs a whopping $125000 from the Fallen Angels’ Cave. Although it will take a while to save up, it has 115 Mine Power, +10% Mining Speed, +50% Luck, and 3 Rune slots. You can’t get any better!
