Like most of the skins’ requirements, the Definitely Not Cryptic skin requires you to eliminate 25,000 Cryptics in total throughout your runs. Unlocking the Definitely Not Cryptic Skin requires you to eliminate 25,000 Cryptics (any kind). Cryptics are the Skeletal enemies that you commonly encounter on all maps. This is one of those skins for which you have to grind for countless hours before you unlock it. As the goal for this skin is quite huge, most of the players will not bother grinding for it, as they would hope the challenge completes itself as they play the game. However, there is a particular trick that you can use to farm hundreds of cryptics in less time than a full run.
The rate of Cryptics and every other enemy increases in the Nightmare Difficulty. If you wish to farm Cryptics repeatedly at a faster rate, you must do a run on Nightmare Difficulty. Yes, it would be much more difficult to deal with a horde of Cryptics, but not if you run a build with AOE potential.
I recommend that you put your points into Speed and Jump Height attributes, use Sherrif Star (weapon) with the Joker that gives 2 extra jumps, use Impulse Grenades, and equip Boing (Elec spell). This setup will give you great momentum and the ability to escape enemies with ease. In addition to this setup, you need to equip Thunder Strike (Elec spell) and Wallo (Cactus spell). Wallo will help you slow down the enemies, and Thunder Strike will be your main move to clear out all enemies.
The next thing is that you need to initiate a run either on the Desert or the Far West map. Both of these maps are open and good for fast navigation. As you begin the session on Nightmare difficulty, you need to focus on Danger Zones on the map. Go through each danger zone and round up all cryptics using your momentum and jumps. After that, land a viscous Thunder Strike in the center to clear out all cryptics.
Go through all Danger Zones on the map and farm cryptics the same way. After clearing out all cryptics, you can intentionally die to end the run and reset it. You can easily clear out 50+ cryptics in a single danger zone. As there are about 4 danger zones on the map, you can clear out 200+ cryptics every run.
