Reanimal is the latest video game from Tarsier Studios, the original developers of Little Nightmares 1 & 2. It is much darker and more unsettling than the Little Nightmares, with psychological horror elements. The players have to explore and survive on the nightmarish island to rescue the missing friends. There are various mysteries hidden on the island, and one in particular unlocks the secret ending to the game. This mystery is interacting with the coffins, giving more context to the disturbing events and the game’s lore. In this guide, we will tell you how to get the secret ending with all coffin locations in Reanimal.
Unlocking the secret ending and earning the “Friends Reunited” achievement will require you to find five hidden coffins in a single run. Replaying the chapters for the coffins will not trigger the secret ending and the achievement. If you have finished the game once or gone past the point where you cannot get the coffin, start a new game in search of the coffins. After finding all coffins during your run, complete the game’s story to trigger the secret ending cutscene and the Friends Reunited achievement.
There are 5 coffins to be found throughout the main story of Reanimal. Each coffin is hidden along a separate path from the main one. Below, you can view the location of each coffin that you have to find in a single run for the secret ending.
The first coffin is in the Rail Yard area during the first chapter of the game. You will come across a minecart with the missing wheels that you need to find and put on the cart to make it across the bridge. As you cross the bridge, you will spot a railing to the right. Stop at this point and go to the right to come across a train. Enter the train from the back and go out of the front door to find the first coffin. Interact with the coffin to complete the action of the spirit.
The second coffin is in the Hotel Basement. During the boat sequence, you will come to find harpoons to clear the path to the Hotel. However, before you do that to progress the story, go to the path on the right, where you will find two mines. Destroy the mines with a harpoon and continue ahead to the end of the path. Get off the boat and enter the building in front through a hole. Go down the staircase to find the second coffin. Interact with the coffin to complete the spirit action.
The third coffin is on a small island hidden behind a cave. As you reach the big lake with small islands around you, the main objective will be to go to the lighthouse. However, before you do that, go to the left and past the island with the canon. Here, you will enter a cave that will lead you to the coffin at the shore. Moreover, there will be an enemy in the water that you need to kill with a harpoon.
NOTE: If you have missed this coffin, you can get it during Chapter 6: Nobody Left Behind.
The fourth coffin is next to the final room of the clock tower in Chapter 4. As you make your way to the room with 3 enemies and a big hole with a rope, you know you are in the right spot. Eliminate the three enemies in the room, but do not interact with the rope, as it will end the chapter. After dealing with the enemies, go to the door in the bottom left of the room. Open the door, and you will find the coffin. Interact with the coffin to complete the spirit action.
The fifth and final coffin is in a bunker inside the Military Hospital. After progressing through the chapter, you will enter a corridor with exploding soldiers. You need to bait the soldier at the right corner to explode to make a hole in the wall. Go to the next corridor and go all the way to the end. Before you go right, the wall behind you will explode, revealing a secret room. Enter this room to find a bunker wheel. Call your partner and open the bunker door. Go down the ladder to find the final coffin. Make sure to interact with the coffin to complete the spirit action.
After finding all coffins, you just need to complete the game’s story to trigger the secret ending cutscene at the end. As the cutscene begins, you will also get the Friends Reunited achievement.
