Developer CyancookGames is celebrating the Chinese Year of the Horse by releasing a new poster for its upcoming PC title Of Peaks and Tides.
Not only that, but it’s also confirmed there will be offline playtests available to check out ahead of the game’s 2026 launch. An ambitious survival sandbox adventure, Of Peaks and Tides is heavily inspired by Eastern mythology – which you can see quite clearly with the newly released poster below.

This recent update from the developer also includes mention of four new enemies, including the Storm-Winged Tiger Qiongqi, the Scouting Wraith, the White Ape Zhuyan, and the Razor Lizard. You can see pics of them in this very article. Intimidating, eh?
These all promise to offer a range of different challenges, alongside the existing environmental challenges the game poses.
In terms of the combat itself, it looks to move away from often dull stat-based battling and instead focuses on you working out how best to use the terrain and wild local creatures to your advantage.

It’s all very interesting stuff, but we’ll need to actually play the game to comment on how well it manages to pull this off.
Fortunately it sounds like we won’t have to wait long, as CyancookGames plans to host some offline playtest events throughout this year.
You can keep an eye on updates from their side via the official website, X, YouTube and Discord. There’s the option to wishlist the game on Steam too of course.
