Why Liminal Logistics Will Be An Experience You Won’t Forget

Working in these winter months can be a real slog. Day after day of mindless admin can seem to seep into one another, with no end in sight.

So it’s very welcome to see a new game poke fun at this grim state of affairs. Well, it’s gone some way to cheering us up, anyway – which is no mean feat.

The title in question is Liminal Logistics, and it’s available to wishlist on Steam right now. Here’s why we think we should be checking it out when it launches in Spring this year.

Trusted developer

It’s been developed by PlayValley, the new division created by the hugely experienced team at Outfit7.

And although it’s PlayValley’s first release, it’s certainly not playing it safe. Instead Liminal Logistics is a surprisingly dark yet comic take on the massively repetitive nature of many jobs.

Just check out the trailer above to get an idea of the tone. It’s gently mocking of the modern day monotonous work culture in all the right ways.

Satisfying gameplay loop

In terms of how the game actually works, it sees you working daily shifts at a factory where you take a box, check the order, go to the warehouse floor to find the items, put them into place, seal the package, and then send it down the line.

Movement is slick and smooth, allowing you to get into a familiar groove. It feels exactly like when you’re doing repetitive work – in a good way.

However the warehouse slowly changes day to day. Corridors suddenly seem longer, broken robots end up in strange places, and droning management announcements become a constant unending background noise.

To say anymore would ruin things, but it’s safe to say that Liminal Logistics is not the simple work sim it seems at first glance.

Doesn’t outstay its welcome

Unlike many titles of this ilk, Liminal Logistics doesn’t exhaust its concept either. Instead it offers a strange idea, and runs with it for a wonderfully succinct runtime.

There’s no building an empire here, or climbing the corporate ladder. This is a game that wants to take you on a short and darkly sweet  ride into everyday working culture, and that’s it. That’s refreshing in our book.

So make sure you wishlist the game on Steam here, and keep an eye out for when it launches in just a few week’s time.
