How to Cut the Painting in Dollhouse Bloodshed

This was a puzzle I struggled with for quite a while during my first playthrough of Dollhouse Bloodshed. So, with the knowledge I’ve gained since, I thought it only right that I help my fellow players.

When exploring the mansion and entering the dining room, there is a painting on the wall which you can interact with. What’s strange about this painting is that there’s a picture piece sewn into it.

The game then prompts you to cut it out, but doesn’t explain how you can do so. The search for a sharp object begins. While I initially thought the hammer could be used… well, it is a claw hammer, after all, but it didn’t work.

How to Get the Bathroom Key

So, I stuck to what I know and carried on exploring in hopes that I would come across a clue or a hidden room that I had not ventured into yet. What you’re looking for is the Letter Opener item, which you can only obtain after unlocking the bathroom. The thing is, to unlock said bathroom, you need the Bathroom Key, which starts a whole new goose chase.

To make it easy for you, the Bathroom Key is hidden within the chest on the second floor. Reaching the second floor requires the use of a hammer to break the wooden planks blocking the door at the top of the stairs.

Opening the Chest

Once you’re on the second floor, there is a room with even more creepy dolls, and a jumbled-up picture on the wall. Ignore those for now and focus on the table, which has a chest and three blocks with letters on them.

To open this chest, you need to rotate the blocks until they spell out EVA – the hint is written on the piece of paper next to the entity on the sofa, facing the black and white television, on the first floor. When rearranging the blocks, the chest opens, and you can pick up the Bathroom Key.

Unlocking the Bathroom Door

Now to find the bathroom door. You may have already interacted with it, only to find that it is locked. However, the mansion is a bit of a maze, especially when you’re trying to avoid the wrath of the monster. The bathroom is located on the first floor.

My best advice is if you can’t remember which door it is, interact with every door possible until you find the right one. Is it efficient? Probably not, but in the midst of a panic when being chased, it’s the most plausible option.

Collecting the Letter Opener

After entering the bathroom, look to the right to see a table with an interactable object atop. This object is the Letter Opener – just what you’ve been looking for. Pick it up and head back to the dining room.

Cutting the Painting

Use the Letter Opener to cut the picture piece out of the painting. This can take a few seconds, so make sure to keep your wits about you. The picture piece drops to the floor, so remember to pick it up before heading back upstairs to the room with the jumbled-up picture.

If you’ve already found the other missing picture piece, your next task is to assemble the different pieces into the right places. Once complete, a secret new room becomes accessible.
