Gavin Green, a Malaysian pro who has played in DP World Tour events since 2010 and is a three-time Olympian, has been suspended three months by the European Tour Group for a breach of its anti-doping policy.
Green had tested positive for a prohibited substance found in a herbal supplement available in Asia, according to a statement from the European Tour Group, the body that oversees the DP World Tour. Green had taken it, the statement said, as a therapeutic treatment to treat a medical condition, and the test was performed in August at the Danish Golf Championship.
The positive test retroactively disqualified Green from that event, where he tied for 40th. His suspension, the European Tour Group said, started on Dec. 5, and he is eligible to return on March 6.
Green turned pro in 2015 after an amateur career that included more than 20 wins and play at the University of New Mexico. In 2017, he became the first Malaysian to top the Asian Tour’s season-long points standings, and he’s played in 221 DP World Tour events and earned over $4 million in prize money. Last year, he played in 30 tournaments, made 14 cuts and finished 142nd in the points standings, giving him conditional status on the DP World Tour.
The 32-year-old is also one of just four players to play in the three Olympic golf tournaments since the games brought back golf in 2016. At those games, in Rio, Green finished 47th, then in 2021 in Tokyo, Green tied for 57th, and in 2024 in Paris, Green tied for 33rd.

The European Tour Group announced today that Gavin Green has received a three-month suspension for breaching its Anti-Doping Policy.
Green tested positive for a prohibited substance contained in an herbal supplement, available in Asia, which he took as a therapeutic treatment to treat a medical condition.
His suspension commenced retrospectively from December 5, 2025, meaning he is eligible to return to competition on March 5, 2026. He has also been disqualified retrospectively from the 2025 Danish Golf Championship, the tournament where the doping control test was taken.
Green has cooperated fully with the Tour throughout the process and accepted the suspension.
The Tour will have no further comment on the suspension at this time.
