Hytale puts you in a world with freedom for sandbox building, RPG progression, combat, discovering secrets, and more. The game includes core mechanics of survival and open-world exploration, allowing players to progress at their own pace. Similar to most survival games, Hytale excels in delivering all crucial experiences. However, one of the features that is a bit different than other survival RPGs is Fishing. There is currently no Fishing Rod tool available in Early Access of Hytale, but that does not mean that you cannot catch fish. In this guide, we will tell you how to catch fish in Hytale.
There are a couple of methods to catch fish in Hytale. The initial method requires you to use a weapon on fish. One strike at a fish in the water will kill the fish and get you Raw Fish. It is not a whole fish, but you do get the basic ingredient that you are trying to get. The second method, which seems to be more of a fishing mechanic, is to use the Fishing Traps. However, the Fishing Trap is not available until you upgrade the Workbench to Tier 2.
The Fishing Traps are crafted at the Farmer’s Workbench. It is an essential station for crafting farming accessories and animal feed. To get the Farmer’s Workbench, you must first upgrade the Workbench to Tier 2 using Thorium Bars. Once done, go into the stations tab and craft the Farmer’s Workbench. Now, you will be able to craft a Fishing Trap using 10x Any Wood, 50x Essence of Life, 20x Plant Fiber, and 1x Iron Ingot.
In addition to the Fishing Traps, you can also craft Fish Bait. It increases the chances of catching higher-rarity fish. Crafting a Fish Bait will cost 3x Any Type of Fruit and 5x Essence of Life.
Using the Fishing Traps is pretty straightforward. Place the fishing traps in any body of water and wait for the fish to get trapped inside. Moreover, you can place the fish bait inside the fishing traps to increase the chances of catching a higher-rarity fish.
To place the fishing trap in the water, press the RMB. To place the fish bait inside the fishing trap, look at the fishing trap and press RMB. Once done, check the fishing trap periodically for fish. If there is a fish in the trap, press F to pick it up.
You can place the fish in the Chef’s Stove to get Raw Fish. The common fish gives 1x Raw Fish, and the higher-rarity fish gives a greater quantity of Raw Fish. You can then use the Raw Fish in cooking recipes.
