As of the BETA release, there are only two ways to get the Mining Shard Runes.
This includes defeating Delver Zombies from the Stonewake Cross caves, or defeating Bomber Skeletons from the Sunken Cells or the volcano entrance rear within the Forgotten Kingdom Caves.
Despite having more serious damage overall, the Bomber Skeleton has a few seconds’ grace period before it detonates and deals that much damage. In that time, if you have a weapon capable of killing it, you won’t sustain any damage and reap all the rewards.
I’m emphasising the Bomber Skeleton too, as it has a higher chance of dropping a Miner Shard, alongside other useful materials such as larger Essences, Boneite, and Blast Chips.
Mining Shards are the ideal counterpart for Pickaxes with Rune Sockets. Unlike other Runes, Miner Shards have tons of variation as opposed to only some or none.
If sold to Greedy Cey, Mining Shards yield $25 per Rune.
Runes can be socketed to Pickaxes, Weapons, and Armour to enhance their versatility. In the case of Mining Shards, these only apply to Pickaxes to make mining more efficient and fruitful.
Runes drop from a series of enemies you encounter, primarily in the Forgotten Kingdom and beyond. If you want to enhance your equipment on a budget without investing in new tools, then Runes might be your go-to for that cutting-edge!
