The 99 Nights in the Forest Lava Fishing feature is a new addition to the game, and it’s quite the secret one! They replenish your Hunger in 99 Nights in the Forest just like the normal fish in the regular ponds. To learn more about the 99 Nights in the Forest Fishing mechanic, read our other guide on the topic.
Did you know you can fish in the lava? A lot of players haven’t attempted it yet, and thus they don’t realise it’s a feature! Yep, you can take your fishing rod into the Volcano biome and collect Volcanic fish.
Players recommend upgrading your fishing rod to either a Good Rod or a Strong Rod before you start fishing in the Volcano Biome.
Luckily, it’s relatively easy to access the Volcano Biome. All you have to do is travel a distance away from your camp! You’ll know when you enter the Volcano Biome, as you can spot barren trees with no leaves and pools of lava with smoke. Next, approach one of these pools of lava and start fishing!
As far as we know, there are only two Volcanic fish in 99 Nights in the Forest at the moment. When you visit the fishing hut, you can see a wooden board featuring drawings of each type of fish, along with the number of fish remaining to be found. It used to be 9, one of which includes a boot, but now it says 11! These two additional fish are the Volcanic fish.
You can cook Volcanic fish the same way as any other fish, which you can then eat to replenish your Hunger stat. Lava Eels seem to be the most common Volcanic fish to drop!
