How to Travel Back to Mexico in Death Stranding 2

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach allows players to explore Mexico and Australia so that they can connect the continents to the Chiral Network. However, since the Mexico section of the game plays as the prologue, players might miss a lot of side content and move to Australia. The game does not restrict players to staying in Australia as they can freely go back to Mexico at any point in the game. In this guide, we will tell you how to travel back to Mexico in Death Stranding 2.

How to Travel Back to Mexico in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

There are a couple of ways to travel back to Mexico in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The first and early method is to use the Plate Gate in Australia to go back to Mexico. During the third chapter, you will use the Plate Gate in Mexico that will take you to Australia and spawn you in the southwest corner of the map (Australia).

If you go back to the location of the Plate Gate, you will see the no-access border. Use the terminal to open the border and continue ahead to reach the gate. Once there, simply walk through the gate to reach Mexico. Now, you will be able to take care of all the side content you want to complete and earn valuable rewards like recipes, weapons, materials, etc.

Use DHV Magellan to Travel to Mexico

In addition to this early method, there is a quick method to travel back to Mexico. However, this method does not unlock until you have made certain progress in the main story. This method requires the unlocking of the Fast Travel system via the DHV Magellan. To unlock the fast travel system, you must complete Order 12. This is the main mission where you will encounter Higgs and its Giant Mech. Doing so will unlock the capability of DHV Magellan to fly to Mexico without any trouble. Here are the simple steps to make use of the fast travel of DHV Magellan and travel back to Mexico.

  • Press the “Options” button to open the map.
  • Hold the X button to chart a course.
  • Press the L1 or R1 to switch the maps (Mexico/Australia)
  • Select the location connected to the Chiral Network to confirm the destination.

NOTE: Make sure to be on the ship as you chart the course and set the destination. Otherwise, the ship will leave without you.

Once you are in Mexico, follow the same method to go back to Australia to continue the progression.
