Bugging Out Quest – Palia

Bugging Out is a new main quest in Palia for Subira. It is added with the new Elderwood expansion, and begins by progressing in the main story. As players make progress in the investigation of Elderwood, they will get the chance to catch some infected bugs with the help of Auni. This guide will walk you through the Bugging Out quest in Palia.

How to Complete the Bugging Out Quest in Palia

Starting the Quest

Bugging Out is Subira’s fourth new main quest. Players will begin this quest depending on their decision at the end of the Nature of Shadows quest. Choosing the “Let’s catch some bugs!” dialogue option triggers the Bugging Out quest. Upon initiating the quest, Subira will advise players to ask Auni for help in hunting the infected bugs.

Talk to Auni about catching the infected insects

Auni will be in Kilima Valley, so travel there and find him. After finding Auni, speak with him and explain the situation. He will tell you to meet him at Najuma’s place. Now, go to Najuma’s place and speak with Auni and Najuma. After speaking with Najuma and Auni, the quest will update and require you to find different materials. Moreover, an optional objective for finding Auni in Elderwood will pop up. You can find Auni in the Deep Woods location of Elderwood. He will be on a lily pad up in the tree.

Gather the materials for Najuma

Here are all the materials that you need to gather for Najuma.

  • 3x Batterfly Beans: Commonly spawn underneath the bigger trees in the locations on the right side of the map. A few of the locations you can forage Batterfly Beans from are Mitana Grove, Honeymiel Slope, and Jenesse Pass.
  • 3x Piksii Berries: Usually spawn in the Deep Woods location of the Elderwood.
  • 3x Staircase Mushroom: Handsome number of spawns around the Central Stables location.
  • 10x Infected Essence: Spawns throughout the Elderwood map on the ground.

You can also consume the Elderwood Potion, which you can purchase from Tamala’s Potion store in the Central Stables. It will allow you to forage the infected materials without being rejected. After gathering all of the materials, bring them to Najuma. She will give you 20 Elderwood Smoke Bombs and a recipe to craft them at the Worktable.

Catch Infected Insects and Infected Essence

Now, go back to the Elderwood map and look for the infected insects. The infected insects have a dark aura around them. Make sure to catch only the infected ones. Catching the regular insects will not count. Some of the best locations to find infected insects are Mauvais Way and Okanaa Bog. Moreover, try some of the cavern areas as well to have a chance of finding the infected insects. You can catch any type of insect, including Butterflies, Rockhoppers, etc.

Catching the infected insects will also give some infected essence. After catching any three infected insects, complete gathering 50 infected essence.

Return to Subira

Once you have caught the infected insects and gathered the infected essence, go back to Subira at the Central Stables. Speak with Subira and tell her that you have the samples. Go through the dialogues, and Subira will mention that Tamala is missing. After the conversation, the Bugging Out quest will conclude.

Rewards

Completing the Bugging Out quest in Palia will give the following rewards.

  • 25 Renown
