Manchester United maintained their recent good run of form in all competition after grabbing all three points against Southampton in the Premier League midweek clash. Their versatile winger/attacker, Amad Diallo was the hero in that game as he scored all three of United’s goals.
Man U were keen on grabbing another positive result in the league after their FA Cup success against Arsenal last week. However, the game against Southampton was far from comfortable for Ruben Armorim’s side as they had to fight hard and come from behind.
The Saints were able to get in front just before the time break thanks to Manuel Ugarte’s unfortunate own goal. However, United managed to turn things around in the second half courtesy of Amad Diallo’s excellent hat-trick on 82, 90, and 94 minutes.
Amorim now hopes that his team’s victory over Southampton will help United players grow confidence for their upcoming matches in all competitions. Since drawing 2-2 against Liverpool, Man U have shown positive results with their penalty shoot-out victory over Arsenal and now a win against The Saints.
However, the season is still long and if United can’t maintain their consistency, they might struggle to improve their position in the current standings. United will be facing another intriguing test this weekend as they set to face Brighton on Sunday.
