For a free rod, the Evil Shovel is excellent. It’s free for all players and it comes with a great passive ability. New players need this shovel! It’s clearly not the best for the late-game, but for those who are only just starting out, it’s one of the best shovels to use.
When you load into the game, click on the piggy bank icon to the right of the screen. This, as usual, opens up the Benson’s Salary Rewards window, which is where you can claim goodies intermittently by simply playing Dig It. Click on the tab at the top of this window that says ‘Daily’.
This then opens a new window for Benson’s Daily Rewards! By logging in every day, you can claim a new daily reward, ranging from magnets to XP boosts. However, what we’re here for is the Evil Shovel, which is the reward for day 2. Yup, all you need to do is log in for 2 days in a row to obtain it – easy peasy! After claiming it via the rewards window, you can find it in your equipment by hitting the F key on your keyboard.
When using the Evil Shovel, you have a 50% chance of digging up items with the Evil mutation. The items turn ‘evil’, which changes their colour to a red and black colour scheme. Every item with the Evil mutation sells for 2x more.
